George and Kayla Whitelock, a former rugby player and Olympic hockey champion respectively, have welcomed their fifth and sixth children, twins Harper and Willow. The twins were born on January 22 via C-section after complications were detected during a 37-week scan. Harper weighed 3kg and Willow 2.7kg at birth. The couple already has three other children: Addison, 10, Maxwell, who broke his arm during the birth, and Frankie, 2.5. The twins' arrival was celebrated with a gender reveal party where the boys in the family stripped and jumped into the pool upon discovering they were two girls. The Whitelocks, who own a 400-hectare dairy farm near the Manawatū River, feel the timing of the twins' birth was fortunate as George can take more time off the farm. Kayla, of Rangitāne descent, is adapting to the challenges of caring for five children and newborn twins. The couple met at the Boxing Day races in Palmerston North in 2012 and married three years later. They are now enjoying the early stages of their twins' lives and the love and support they receive from their older children.
