Auckland City District Logan Park High School has recently come under scrutiny after discovering that a student's family office was involved in financial misconduct, prompting the school to initiate an investigation.

According to the school's 2023 annual report, the incident resulted in a loss of approximately NZ$364,884 (inclusive of tax), an amount that has been confirmed during this current investigation.

This misconduct was identified over the past five fiscal years and involved one individual. The school has taken several measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring, including conducting a thorough investigation into the financial misconduct.

According to school officials, they have collaborated with audit firms to ensure all losses have been recovered and that the school's financial management systems have been improved as a result of this incident.

School administrators emphasized that this incident is isolated, involving only one individual, and that the person involved has already been terminated from their position. They stressed that the school's handling of the situation followed professional advice with the aim of quickly recovering funds while maintaining transparency.

Auckland Department of Education acting Minister Acting Hautū Te Tai Runga has acknowledged the school's understanding of this incident and is working closely with the school to better understand how the incident unfolded. The school also thanks all staff members who assisted in the investigation.

This incident has not impacted the school's financial status, which was validated by the findings of the audit firm. The school's stability and soundness of financial health have been recognized by the audit team.
