Taravalu Road Crash Urges Temporary Closure

The serious crash occurred at approximately 8:30 am on Tarawera Road near Napier-Taupō, involving a truck and a car. The collision has resulted in one Critical injured party being transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital, while another minor injury patient is receiving treatment locally.

NZ Transport Agency confirms the temporary closure of Te Haroto to Pohokura road in both directions. The agency advises all road users and pedestrians to avoid the affected area and delay travel plans accordingly.

Police are investigating the cause, which is believed to involve a truck and a car. Critical injured patient received immediate medical attention at Hato Hone St John's emergency centre, supported by two ambulances and a helicopter. Another patient has minor injuries while a third sustained light injuries.

Meanwhile, Serious Crash Unit has arrived on scene to manage the situation. Police also remind all road users to exercise caution and follow instructions to ensure their safety in this incident.
