A 17-year-old female cyclist in Hamilton was tragically killed early this morning when she was struck by a logging truck at the intersection of Mill and Ulster streets. Eyewitnesses described the scene as follows: The cyclist, traveling in the bike lane, moved into the cycle bay to make way for the oncoming vehicle before the driver suddenly applied brakes, causing the cyclist to lose balance and roll over onto the road.


The witness immediately sounded the horn to alert nearby vehicles and brought her car to a stop at the intersection while emergency services were called. Police have taken the crash under serious investigation and are actively working with the Collision Investigation Unit to determine the cause of the accident.


According to the cyclist's sister, the accident narrowly avoided fatal consequences, but the cyclist suffered severe injuries including multiple fractures, brain injuries, and other serious injuries. The cyclist is currently in a critical condition at the hospital undergoing arduous recovery.


Police Spokesperson stated that the crash occurred at 5:55 am, and at that time two fire trucks and ambulances were already on scene to provide aid. The cyclist is expected to remain hospitalized for an extended period as her condition continues to improve. Family members are deeply shaken by this tragic event but express their heartfelt gratitude to all emergency services who responded quickly to the scene.
