Australian Miniature Dachshund "Valerie" Rescued After 12 Months

Australian Miniature Dachshund "Valerie" has been rescued after spending over 4400 square kilometres missing. The tiny, energetic dog was last seen in November 2023 when she went missing from the farm of owners Georgia Gardner and Josh Fishlock while they were taking their dogs for a walk.

Despite the owners abandoning their search after four months, Australian wildlife rescue volunteers with Kangala Wildlife Rescue utilised video surveillance footage to track down the missing dog. Their extensive search operation covered 5000 kilometres before successfully capturing Valerie in a trap station.

Valerie has been captured on camera for the first time and is being kept in a safe location under close monitoring by Kangala Wildlife Rescue volunteers. The team expressed their delight at the outcome, while Georgia Gardner, who has always owned and cared deeply for her dogs, expressed gratitude to the volunteers.

Georgia said: "We can't thank them enough for their incredible efforts in finding Valerie. She is a true hunting dog and we are all so relieved she's safe once again."
