On December 2024, a man from Nelson was sentenced to two months imprisonment for supplyingrugae and alcohol to a young woman.

The incident occurred on December 23, 2023, when the accused along with his sister and another sister were present in the victim's home. The accused then provided the victim withrugae and alcohol, making it impossible for her to recall what happened next.

When the victim's mother reported the incident to the police on January 2024, further investigation confirmed a consensual sexual relationship between the accused and the victim. The accused voluntarily confessed to all the allegations in February 2024 and admitted to having consensual relations with the victim.

Despite expressing remorse for his actions, the accused was unable to explain why he committed such acts. According to the NZ Law Society's rating, the accused displayed high悔意 (repentance) and was considered eligible for rehabilitation due to his young age.

The accused has been sentenced to two months in prison, one year of community service, and is prohibited from contacting the victim or her family for 18 months.
