NZ First Proposes Law to Re-Define "Woman" in Terms of Biology

NZ First, led by Winston Peters, has introduced a legal proposal aimed at redefining the term "woman" in New Zealand's legal system.

The bill seeks to address perceived advances in the "no-hassle" movement and potential threats to women's rights. NZ First claims this approach is based on a recognition of biological facts, not gender discrimination.

The party emphasizes that the legislation is not motivated by any form of gender bias but rather a need to focus on objective facts in an increasingly polarized society.

NZ First acknowledges support from the Ministry for Women, which defines "woman" as "self-identifying as female individuals," aiming to include all gender identities, including transgender women.

The party also plans to introduce additional legal measures in the coming months, such as revisiting existing gender equality laws and implementing inclusive policies in education and employment.
