In Hawke's Bay, a Cultural Festival Will Bring Together Indian and Polynesian Traditions

On May 5 at 6:30 pm in Hastings' Toitoi Theatre, the "Wairua Paani" performance will take centre stage. Organised by Hawke's Bay Indian Cultural Centre, this annual event aims to showcase the harmonious coexistence of diverse cultures through artistic expression.

Hawke's Bay Indian Cultural Centre was established in 2013 as a tribute to the region's Indian immigrants and their contributions. Over the years, it has grown into a vital cultural landmark not only for the local community but also attracting visitors from around the globe.

Deepthi Krishna, the founder of Hawke's Bay Indian Cultural Centre, shares her passion for dance and her journey from science to food quality management before finding her true calling in performing arts. She believes that this fusion of Indian and Polynesian culture represents a unique opportunity for cultural exchange.

"Hawke's Bay Indian Cultural Centre" was designed by local artists to reflect the region's uniqueness and diversity. Deepthi Krishna emphasizes that this performance is not just a show but a dialogue between cultures.

Team members have undergone extensive rehearsals, and renowned artists from both India and Polynesia have been invited to contribute their talents. This event will provide a platform for the Indian and Polynesian communities to showcase their traditions while also welcoming wider audiences to experience this cultural fusion.

"This is a night of multi-cultural celebration," says Deepthi Krishna, "where everyone can find something personal and meaningful." Whether you are deeply moved by Indian culture or captivated by the stories of Polynesian heritage, there will be moments that resonate with every attendee.

This performance marks an important milestone for Hawke's Bay Indian Cultural Centre. Last year, the centre faced challenges due to cyber-attacks which impacted its operations. To recover and expand its outreach, significant resources have been invested in maintenance and upgrades.

"We hold cultural exchange very dear to our hearts," says Deepthi Krishna, "and this performance will be a special gift we offer to our community."

Tickets are available through Eventfinda. This event is not just an opportunity for visual and auditory pleasure but also a testament to cultural confidence.

"This performance tells the story of two different worlds, where everyone can find something to connect with," says Augustina Smith.

Hawke's Bay Indian Cultural Centre is committed to promoting harmony among diverse cultures through art. The centre believes that such cultural events are essential for fostering mutual understanding and creating a more inclusive society.

"We believe that through these kinds of cultural exchange activities, people will be able to better understand one another and work together towards building a shared future," says Deepthi Krishna.

This performance is set to take place on May 5 at 6:30 pm in Hastings' Toitoi Theatre. Don't miss this chance to experience a unique blend of Indian and Polynesian culture first-hand.
