在Ashburton的一起严重火灾中，一名居民不幸遇难，调查工作仍在进行中。根据 Ashburton警方的消息，这起火灾于周四夜间（4月5日）12:45分左右在Glassey Drive上发生，并迅速蔓延至一户人家，造成房屋严重损坏。
消防员在现场进行了大约25名消防员的参与灭火行动，并得到了警方和救护车的支持。尽管消防员在火灾过后对房屋内的人进行了全面排查，但当时无法确认所有居民是否已全部撤离。调查人员随后返回现场，发现一个受害者遗体被发现于火场废墟中。
目前尚无其他伤者或失踪者的下落，调查工作仍在进一步展开中。
