A Mother's Plea: A Christchurch Resident Fights to Reunite with Her Son

In a heartfelt appeal to immigration officials, Prince, a long-time resident of Christchurch, is desperately seeking permission for her teenage son, Jap Sahib, to join her in New Zealand. Jap, who has Down syndrome, has been separated from his mother for nearly a decade due to his medical condition, which has led to his exclusion from the country.

Prince, who has been working as a chef in Christchurch for over 10 years and holds New Zealand residency, initially arrived in the country in 2014 with her son. However, Jap was required to leave when his student visa application was denied. Immigration New Zealand cited the Ongoing Resource Scheme (ORS) funding as a key factor in the rejection, stating that it did not meet the health standards required for student visas.
