Military Doctors Rescue Injured Mother and Child in Inner Mongolia Desert

Recently, a young mother and her three-year-old son were seriously injured after falling from a camel during a riding experience at the Yinkentala Desert Tourism Area in Inner Mongolia. In a heartwarming act of courage and professionalism, Dr. Du Rui and Nurse Tang Xiaoyan, both civilian staff from the Central Theater Command General Hospital, rushed to the scene and provided immediate medical assistance, ensuring the injured woman received timely treatment and was safely transported to a local hospital.

The incident occurred when the mother and her son were riding a camel as part of the tour. Suddenly, the camel became startled and lost balance, causing both the mother and child to fall from a height of nearly two meters. The mother suffered a head injury and was bleeding heavily, while the child was unharmed. As the situation unfolded, onlookers were in shock, unsure of what to do next, until Dr. Du Rui and Nurse Tang Xiaoyan stepped forward.

"I am a doctor!" Dr. Du shouted as he sprinted toward the injured woman, a simple declaration that immediately commanded attention and allowed him and Nurse Tang to reach the scene without delay. Dr. Du quickly assessed the woman's condition, while Nurse Tang applied pressure to the bleeding wound on her head and offered comfort and reassurance.

Recognizing the severity of the injury, the couple worked swiftly to coordinate the transfer of the woman to a nearby hospital. Their quick thinking and on-the-spot medical expertise were crucial in stabilizing the patient before she received further treatment.

The woman was eventually admitted to the local hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Hohhot for further observation. According to her husband, Zheng先生, the couple had been informed that the woman had suffered a head injury from the camel’s kick and had been in a state of confusion following the fall. He expressed deep gratitude toward the medical professionals who had arrived on the scene.

"At the time, my wife was bleeding heavily from her head. I was so scared. I really thank those two doctors for their help. Without them, I don’t know what would have happened."

Zheng先生 further shared that his wife had been diagnosed with no brain hemorrhage or fractures, and was currently recovering well. He noted that she had already started eating and was preparing to return to Henan for further recovery the following day.

According to the Central Theater Command General Hospital, while the tourism area’s staff arrived promptly at the scene, they lacked the medical training necessary to handle such an emergency. The timely intervention of Dr. Du and Nurse Tang was therefore instrumental in ensuring the woman’s survival and recovery.

Dr. Du and Nurse Tang, both from the Hankou Branch of the Central Theater Command General Hospital, emphasized that their actions were simply a reflection of their duty as medical professionals. "This is our responsibility. If any of our colleagues had been there, they would have done the same. As long as we see a patient in danger, we must act quickly to help."

The incident has sparked widespread praise from the injured woman’s family, the local tourism area, and fellow tourists. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of having trained medical personnel on standby in public spaces, especially in remote or high-risk areas.

As the injured woman continues her recovery, the heroic actions of Dr. Du and Nurse Tang stand as a testament to the unwavering spirit of medical professionals who are always ready to serve in times of need.
