The 'Ilisin no Fakong' of the Cat公 Tribe in Fongbin Township, Hualien County, has been reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Culture's Indigenous Important Folk Custom Review Committee. It was officially announced as an important folk custom in September last year. Coinciding with the festival period, the Ministry of Culture will visit the tribe tonight to present the certificate. The Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that today coincides with the Fakong Tribe's annual Festival of Spirits, and in the evening, Deputy Minister of Culture Li Jinghui and Director of the Cultural Heritage Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, Chen Jimin, will visit the tribe to present the 'Important Folk Custom' certification. The head of the tribe, Gao Jinwan, will accept it on behalf of the tribe. 'Ilisin no Fakong' is an annual event of the Amis Fakong Tribe in Fongbin Township, Hualien County. It is participated in by people of all ages in the tribe and is held from August 5th to 10th every year, including rituals to welcome ancestors, spiritual dances, and ceremonies to send off ancestors. It expresses gratitude to the ancestors for a bountiful harvest and also prays for peace, smooth sailing, and a bountiful harvest in the coming year.
