A massive watch-selling fraud case occurred in Tsim Sha Tsui on Monday (4th), where fraudsters meticulously planned, setting up a suspected fake 'Luxury Watch Maintenance Service Center' at Peninsula Centre. They used a double-door trap and dozens of bundles of 'training tickets' with only the surface appearing to be genuine currency to successfully defraud two mainland watch sellers of two luxury watches, a Patek Philippe and a Richard Mille watch, totaling nearly HK$4.6 million. Five days later, the police today (9th) said that two men, a 34-year-old and a 43-year-old local man, have been arrested on suspicion of 'conspiracy to defraud' as the masterminds and driver of the case. Reports indicated that the arrested driver was a ride-hailing platform driver, and the police are investigating whether he was involved in the case. Additionally, there was a co-conspirator who received the stolen goods and successfully sold the involved Patek Philippe watch for HK$1.73 million in Hong Kong before fleeing to Macau. The police recovered the watch and are currently investigating the remaining suspects and the whereabouts of the lost watches.
