The 2025 refined Hakka opera '1895 Yibei Heroes - Xu Xiang' will start its nationwide tour on August 10 from Miaoli, with the first performance held at the Miaoli Northern Arts Center. To commemorate the 130th anniversary of the 1895 Yibei Battle to Protect Taiwan, the Hakka Affairs Council and the Rongsheng Hakka Tea-Picking Opera Troupe have collaborated to produce this play, showcasing the deeds of Hakka anti-Japanese hero Xu Xiang. Led by the 'Living National Treasure' Zheng Rongxing, the troupe has been nominated for multiple awards at the 36th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts, symbolizing the promotion and inheritance of Hakka art.
