In response to China's Taiwan Affairs Office's criticism of President Lai Ching-te's speech at the Kaderan Forum, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) said today that President Lai's remarks emphasized Taiwan's role in the peace of the Indo-Pacific region. Repeating the same words over and over by the Taiwan Affairs Office is very annoying. The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) held a routine press conference in the afternoon of the 7th, hosted by Deputy Director and Spokesperson Liang Wen-jie, who made the above remarks during the meeting. Liang Wen-jie said that President Lai's speech at the Kaderan Forum emphasized Taiwan's role in the peace of the Indo-Pacific region, as well as Taiwan's contributions to peace and its efforts to maintain the status quo. The Taiwan Affairs Office does not need to overthink it, 'repeating the same words over and over is very annoying.' President Lai spoke at the Kaderan Forum on the 5th. On the 6th, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, criticized through a written statement, stating, 'This is a stubborn adherence to the pro-independence and separatist stance and the erroneous path of relying on external forces for independence and using force for independence.' 'This again exposes its true nature as a destroyer of peace, a seller of war, and a maker of trouble.' The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Xiao Guang-wei, said this morning that the erroneous statements by the Taiwan Affairs Office are maliciously distorting facts and twisting the truth, undermining Taiwan's sovereignty, and has been severely condemned. The Republic of China's Taiwan and the People's Republic of China are not subject to each other. The Chinese Communist Party has never ruled Taiwan. Taiwan's sovereignty belongs to all the people of Taiwan, and only the people of Taiwan can decide Taiwan's future. President Lai said in his speech at the Kaderan Forum on the 5th that the Russia-Ukraine war has not stopped and the Middle East conflict has intensified. China's military actions in the Taiwan Strait, East China Sea, and South China Sea have posed unprecedented challenges to the international order based on rules. Under the continued expansion of authoritarianism, democratic countries need to unite more to defend democratic and free values.
