Jiangxi's Chongren County: Returning Entrepreneurs Boost Rural Revitalization with Specialty Industries
August 4, 2025 — In the heart of Jiangxi Province's Chongren County, a quiet transformation is underway. Once a region primarily reliant on traditional agriculture, Chongren is now witnessing a surge in revitalization, driven by returning entrepreneurs and the development of specialized industries. One such entrepreneur is You Yibao, whose journey from a city-based businessperson to a rural cattle farmer has become a symbol of the county's revitalization efforts.
Currently, the yellow cattle breeding base in Shanshe Village, Xiangshan Town, is in the critical phase of cattle fattening. Farmers are busy feeding the animals, while the cattle, healthy and well-groomed, graze peacefully. You Yibao, who returned to his hometown after attending a local entrepreneurs' symposium, decided to invest in cattle breeding, leveraging the county's supportive policies and the assistance of local officials.
“During my return to the village, the local government helped us solve land and funding issues, which gave us a strong sense of security,” he recalls. His cattle farm now covers everything from calf breeding to disease prevention and fattening. It has not only provided employment for local villagers but also generated nearly 150,000 yuan annually for the village's collective economy.
“I come here to help feed the cattle and clean the pens. I earn over 1,000 yuan a month,” says Yang Muxing, a local worker. His story is just one of many in the village, where the once-stagnant land is now a source of prosperity.
The success of the cattle farm is emblematic of Chongren County’s broader strategy of revitalizing rural areas through specialized industries. The county has leveraged its unique geographical and agricultural advantages, encouraging the development of diverse sectors such as chicken farming, vegetable cultivation, bamboo fungus production, and grape growing. These industries have created jobs for over 1,200 villagers, allowing them to work close to home and improve their livelihoods.
According to Zhang Licheng, a county official, Chongren has been actively organizing events like the “Three Invitations and Three Returns” initiative and informal tea gatherings to attract returning entrepreneurs and local talents. These efforts aim to encourage investment and promote the flow of capital back to the countryside, ultimately driving rural economic growth.
Looking ahead, the county plans to explore deeper integration between统战工作 (united front work) and rural revitalization. By leveraging the resources, expertise, and extensive networks of the unified front, Chongren aims to create more success stories that will further enhance its rural development and contribute to the broader goal of common prosperity.
