Lee Ka-chiu leads four bureau heads to Macao for exchange on enhancing Hong Kong-Macao cooperation and promoting the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The Chief Executive Lee Ka-chiu visited Macao today (5th) with a delegation from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, met with the Chief Executive of Macao,岑浩辉, and visited local infrastructure. Both sides exchanged views on further strengthening Hong Kong-Macao cooperation and jointly promoting the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Afterward,岑浩辉 hosted Lee Ka-chiu and his delegation at the Macao Government House. Lee Ka-chiu and岑浩辉 had in-depth exchanges on promoting cooperation in various aspects between Hong Kong and Macao and the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Lee Ka-chiu said he was pleased to meet again after岑浩辉 led a delegation to visit Hong Kong earlier. Both Hong Kong and Macao are special administrative regions of the country, sharing the unique advantages of the "one country, two systems" policy. Hong Kong and Macao are geographically close, have frequent cultural exchanges, and maintain close economic and trade relations, and have always cooperated closely in areas such as the economy, cross-border infrastructure, tourism, and culture.

Lee Ka-chiu also pointed out that Hong Kong and Macao are both part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and will continue to jointly promote the development of the Greater Bay Area. They will adhere to the "one country" foundation and make good use of the advantages of the "two systems," complement each other's strengths, and seize development opportunities to continuously enhance cooperation and contribute to the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.岑浩辉 said he hopes both sides will promote cross-border policy coordination and enhance internal and external connectivity. He mentioned that both sides can continue to strengthen interconnectivity in transportation, providing greater convenience for residents and tourists, leveraging the complementary advantages of tourism, promoting "one journey, multiple stops," as well as more tourism products and preferential schemes. He also said that Hong Kong and Macao can take the opportunity of the 15th Games to jointly host more sporting events, driving various types of tourists to visit Hong Kong and Macao as well as the entire Greater Bay Area. He also welcomed more Hong Kong enterprises to participate in the development of the Macao-Zhuhai Deep Cooperation Zone and seize the new opportunities of the second phase of construction.

Lee Ka-chiu's delegation also visited the Macao-Zhuhai Deep Cooperation Zone. They first visited the Macao-Hong Kong Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Experience Center to learn about the local integration of traditional Chinese medicine with the cultural and tourism industries; then visited the Macao-Zhuhai Deep Cooperation Zone Planning Exhibition Hall, which features more than 600 exhibits on new products and technologies. Lee Ka-chiu said that the construction of the Macao-Zhuhai Deep Cooperation Zone is a major deployment to enrich the practice of the "one country, two systems" policy, which is conducive to the long-term prosperity and stability of Macao and its integration into the national development plan.

The main officials from the Macao Special Administrative Region Government who accompanied Lee Ka-chiu on his visit included the Financial Secretary,陈茂波, the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs,曾国卫, the Secretary for Health and Welfare,卢宠茂, the Secretary for Transport and Logistics,陈美宝, and the Chief of the Chief Executive's Office,叶文娟. The visiting group returned to Hong Kong this afternoon.
