Media reports indicate that Chinese car brand BYD is planning to enter the Taiwan market, intending to import vehicles to Taiwan through a Taiwanese distributor from Thailand. The Ministry of Economic Affairs stated today that the government, based on considerations of national security, vehicle safety, information security, and industrial development, will strictly prevent Chinese brand cars from entering the Taiwan market through various means. To prevent Chinese brand cars from entering Taiwan through third countries, the Ministry of Economic Affairs will discuss regulatory measures, and is expected to announce them by the end of the year.
