Chikungunya is a contagious disease transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, with main symptoms including fever, joint pain, and headache. Compared to dengue fever, the probability of severe illness in chikungunya is lower, but joint pain may last for months or even years. Currently, several countries worldwide, including Brazil, India, and Guangdong Province in China, have reported outbreaks. The CDC has upgraded the travel health advisory for Guangdong Province in China and Brazil to Level 2 'Watch'. Prevention methods include wearing long-sleeved clothing, using mosquito repellent, and seeking medical attention promptly if symptoms appear after returning from an outbreak area.
