Created by the National Center for Traditional Arts, the experimental platform 'Xiqu Dream Factory' is entering its 8th year this year. This year's six productions encompass a diverse range of forms including puppetry, Beiguan opera, Peking opera, circus, and tech art, challenging the established boundaries of traditional opera. Chen Yui-Yi, Director of the National Center for Traditional Arts, stated that the 'Xiqu Dream Factory' can be considered the most innovative series of programs offered by the National Center for Traditional Arts. For three consecutive years, the center has invited dramaturg Wang Jun-Yan to curate the event, bringing new perspectives and questions. This year, with the theme 'Yi Si Revolution,' the focus is on the self-renewal of traditional opera under the impact of modernity, symbolizing the reflection and response of traditional opera creators to the real world. The six productions will weave together a new aesthetic of traditional opera through a diverse range of theatrical languages.
