Continuous heavy rain has caused agricultural losses exceeding 1 billion NT dollars in Pingtung. On the 5th, Pingtung County Magistrate Zhou Chunmi visited Gao Shu Township to inspect the disaster situation and called on the Council of Agriculture to promptly announce the natural disaster relief measures and subsidy standards to help farmers overcome the difficulties. Gao Shu Township in Pingtung is a major production area for pineapples and honey dates, with accumulated rainfall reaching 1,457 millimeters. Inadequate drainage has caused damage to crops. Zhou Chunmi stated that she hopes experts can assist farmers in resuming cultivation and include honey dates in the natural disaster subsidy items. According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture, 37 types of crops have been damaged, resulting in losses exceeding 1 billion NT dollars.
