A large pit with a length and width of about 6 meters and a depth of about 4 meters appeared on the construction site at the intersection of Shengli Street and Badeh Road in Daliao District, Kaohsiung City on the 5th. Taipower stated that this was for the power supply needs of the construction project, and the external pipeline connection work has been completed by the contractor. Taipower Fengshan Branch explained that due to obstacles at the exit of the continuous wall pipeline, the excavation scope was larger to accommodate the future power supply needs of this project. Currently, the pit has been refilled. The Kaohsiung Road Excavation Management Center stated that they will ask Taipower to explain whether the construction violated the provisions of the 'Kaohsiung Road Excavation Management Self-Governance Regulations'. Kao Yu-hsuan, a Kaohsiung City Council member of the Kuomintang, said that recently, Kaohsiung has experienced continuous heavy rains, and many roads have appeared with potholes and holes. A Taipower excavation project at a construction site in Zhongzhuang Village, Daliao District, caused a large pit in front of this intersection. This intersection is already a high-accident area, and initially, the accident site only had basic warnings, with no personnel maintaining traffic, which was alarming. Kao Yu-hsuan said that after contacting the relevant units, emergency measures were taken immediately. The city's Public Works Bureau should quickly investigate the cause of the incident. This pit is quite large and has caused damage to the surrounding roads. If subsequent damage leads to large-scale road collapse, it will seriously endanger the safety of road users.
