Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said today that Ukraine has finalized a draft of the US-Ukraine drone cooperation plan, and subsequent negotiations will be held on the details of the cooperation. Zelenskyy previously estimated that the scale of this cooperation could reach up to $10 billion (approximately NT$298.8 billion).
Zelenskyy stated via social media that he has spoken with US President Donald Trump, and the two exchanged views on bilateral defense cooperation between Ukraine and the US, including the drone cooperation plan. He emphasized that this could become one of the most significant agreements.
Zelenskyy also revealed that during the call, the two sides exchanged views on Russia's recent escalation of aerial attacks. He pointed out that Trump has a full understanding of Russia's aerial attacks on Kyiv, and the two sides also discussed possible sanctions. Zelenskyy said, 'If Russia had not deliberately prolonged the war, the war should have ended months ago.'
The 'New York Post' reported last month that Zelenskyy said in an interview that Ukraine and the US are currently negotiating drone cooperation, and Ukraine plans to provide drone technologies verified in combat to the US in exchange for US weapons. At the time, Zelenskyy described this as a 'win-win' cooperation.
In addition, after the Netherlands became the first NATO member state to announce direct procurement of weapons from the US, Zelenskyy said today that Sweden, Norway, and Denmark will also jointly provide military aid worth 500 million euros (approximately NT$17.3 billion).
