Mayor Lu Hsiu-yu of Taichung City departed for Australia on the evening of August 5, leading a delegation by plane, and is expected to return to Taiwan on August 11. The main purpose of this trip is to conduct city development inspections through city diplomacy and expand economic and trade layouts. Lu Hsiu-yu stated that as the second-largest city in Taiwan, Taichung City's municipal work includes not only internal affairs, but city diplomacy is also important. She hopes that through this visit, the economic and trade ties with Australia can be strengthened, and when facing the reciprocal tariff issue imposed by the United States, the central and local governments can leverage their respective strengths to jointly address the challenges and turn the crisis into an opportunity. During the visit, Lu Hsiu-yu will participate in various activities, including hosting the Taichung City Dadun Art Exhibition, inspecting city development and energy transformation projects in Australia, and exchanging ideas with local overseas Chinese communities. This trip will not only deepen the friendship with Australia, but also bring more opportunities for the future development of Taichung City.
