The Keelung City Government convened a discussion with manufacturers from the Dabowulun and Liutu Industrial Parks on the 5th. Wei Ya-an, Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Industrial Park Manufacturers of the Republic of China, proposed four key areas in which the local government can assist manufacturers, such as helping them expand business opportunities abroad and guiding industry transformation, to cope with the U.S. temporary 20% tariff on Taiwan. Mayor Hsieh Guoliang of Keelung expressed hope that the Executive Yuan would quickly propose relevant plans to actively assist businesses, and reminded the government that relief measures should not become improper subsidies. Kuomintang Legislator Lin Pei-hsiang pointed out that instead of waiting until the situation occurs to think of ways to respond, it would be better to first hold a meeting to understand the needs of manufacturers and help Keelung manufacturers overcome difficulties.
