Artist NONO (Chen Xuanyu) was indicted on two charges of sexual coercion and indecent abuse on the 5th. The Taipei District Prosecutors' Office believes that NONO used his height and physical advantages to forcibly assault two victims and has requested the court to impose a heavier sentence. According to the indictment, between 2011 and 2013, one evening, NONO went to a fashion lifestyle club in Taipei City and requested a victim to provide a massage service. During the massage, NONO is suspected of forcibly pressing the victim onto a beauty chair and committing sexual coercion successfully. In addition, NONO liked a program video uploaded by another victim on Facebook and sent messages to her via communication software, inviting her to meet. On the afternoon of a certain day in December 2011, NONO drove to Yanji Street in Taipei City to pick up the victim. After the victim got into the car and sat in the front passenger seat, NONO is suspected of violating her will, forcibly pressing her body, and kissing her with his tongue and manually rubbing her chest, successfully committing indecent abuse. Initially, the case was investigated by the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office, which decided not to indict. The two victims filed a request for reconsideration with the High Prosecutors' Office of Taiwan. The Taipei District Prosecutors' Office, considering jurisdiction issues, submitted the case to the High Prosecutors' Office for transfer to the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office for further investigation. The Taipei District Prosecutors' Office again decided not to indict, and the two victims filed a second request for reconsideration. The High Prosecutors' Office returned the case again, ordering the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office to continue the investigation. During the investigation, prosecutors examined relevant evidence and testimonies, as well as mobile phone conversation records, and concluded that NONO committed the crimes of sexual coercion and indecent abuse under the Criminal Code. Both crimes should be separately considered and combined for punishment. Considering the significant psychological and physical harm caused to the victims, and that NONO denied the allegations after they were exposed and showed no remorse, the prosecutors requested the court to impose a heavier sentence. Meanwhile, NONO was also accused of an attempted indecent abuse. In May of this year, the Taipei District Court sentenced him to two years and six months in prison. The case was appealed by NONO and the prosecution, and is currently being reviewed by the High Court of Taiwan.
