Heavy Rain and Strong Convective Weather Warnings Issued for These Regions

On August 5 at 10:00 AM, the National Meteorological Center continued to issue an orange-level heavy rain warning and a blue-level convective weather warning, signaling an imminent threat to several regions across the country. This dual warning highlights the potential for severe weather conditions, which could pose significant risks to communities and infrastructure.

Heavy Rain Warning: Large Areas of Heavy Rain Expected

According to the National Meteorological Center, from 2:00 PM on August 5 to 2:00 PM on August 6, heavy rain is expected in several regions, including parts of the Liaodong Peninsula, southern Shanxi, southern Hebei, southern Tianjin, central and northern Shandong, northern Henan, southern Hunan, southern Jiangxi, central and southern Fujian, eastern Sichuan Basin, central and eastern Guangxi, Guangdong, and the majority of Taiwan Island. In particular, southeastern Hebei, northern Shandong, southeastern Guangxi, central and southern Guangdong, and coastal areas of Guangdong are likely to experience heavy to torrential rain, with some areas potentially facing super-heavy rainfall of 250 to 300 millimeters.

Accompanying these rains will be short-term heavy downpours, with some areas experiencing rainfall rates of up to 20 to 50 millimeters per hour, and in extreme cases, exceeding 70 millimeters per hour. In addition, some regions may be affected by thunderstorms and strong winds, further increasing the risk of flooding and landslides.

Convective Weather Warning: Strong Winds and Hail Expected in Northern and Eastern Regions

The blue-level convective weather warning indicates that areas in eastern Inner Mongolia, central and southern Northeast China, southern North China, northern Huaihai region, and central South China will experience winds of 8 meters per second or more, or hail. These conditions will be accompanied by short-term heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving over 20 millimeters of rain per hour, and in extreme cases, exceeding 50 millimeters per hour, with the highest potential reaching over 70 millimeters per hour in certain areas such as southern Liaoning, southern Hebei, northern and eastern Shandong, northern and central Henan, eastern Sichuan Basin, southeastern Guangxi, and central Guangdong.

The National Meteorological Center has emphasized that the primary impact period for these severe weather conditions will be from this afternoon through the night. Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor weather updates closely, secure their properties, and avoid unnecessary travel. Authorities are urged to prepare emergency response plans and ensure the safety of vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and children.

As the weather system continues to develop, it is crucial for communities and government agencies to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to mitigate the risks associated with these extreme weather events. The potential for flooding and other weather-related disasters is significant, and preparedness is key to protecting lives and minimizing damage.
