A mobile phone video, reportedly captured outside Bungendore High School in New South Wales, has surfaced online, allegedly showing a police officer pushing a woman to the ground during an arrest. The footage, which has been shared on social media, shows the woman hitting her head on a white post as she falls. The ABC has decided not to publish the video directly but has reported on the incident based on the footage and statements from those involved.
According to a post on social media from the woman involved, she suffered a severe concussion, a fractured rib, and a cut on her ear during the incident, which allegedly occurred on July 22, 2025. The woman claims she was not the target of the arrest but was present during the event and became involved in an altercation with the boy who was arrested.
In a statement released by New South Wales Police, the department confirmed that it is reviewing the video footage circulating on social media and is investigating the incident that took place on Majara Street, Bungendore, around 2:50 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The police were initially called to the school after reports that a 15-year-old boy was allegedly threatening another individual.
During the incident, a second 15-year-old boy allegedly threw a rock at a passing car, shattering the passenger window. The female driver, who was in the car, was then allegedly threatened and chased by the boy and a 32-year-old woman known to him. Police and members of the public intervened, leading to the arrest of the 15-year-old boy.
During the arrest, police allege that the woman, who was known to the boy, became aggressive and attempted to physically intervene. When the boy was being placed into a police car, the woman allegedly threatened the other woman again. The senior constable then returned and arrested the 32-year-old woman.
The 15-year-old boy has been charged with stalking/intimidating, contravening an AVO (Apprehended Violence Order), and destroying/damaging property. The 32-year-old woman has been charged with hindering/resisting a police officer in the execution of duty and two counts of stalking/intimidating. Both individuals have been granted bail and are due to appear in Queanbeyan Local Court next week.
The police statement emphasized that they are taking the allegations seriously and are conducting a thorough review of the footage. The incident has sparked public concern and renewed discussions about the use of force by law enforcement during arrests and the treatment of individuals involved in such situations.
As the investigation continues, the community is awaiting further updates from the police and the court proceedings. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in de-escalating potentially volatile situations while ensuring the safety of all parties involved.
