HelloFresh Pleads Guilty to Misleading Consumer Practices

Meal-kit delivery company HelloFresh has admitted to misleading behavior under the Fair Trading Act, marking a significant legal development in the company's history. The company was charged by the Commerce Commission for engaging in deceptive practices during cold calls aimed at reactivating discontinued subscriptions.

The allegations span from February 2022 to July 2023, during which time former HelloFresh customers were offered vouchers without being informed that accepting these would automatically reactivate their subscriptions. This led to some customers unknowingly resuming payments for services they no longer wanted or needed.
