WA Police Locate Abandoned Vehicle of Missing German Backpacker Carolina Wilga

Western Australian police have discovered the abandoned vehicle of missing German backpacker Carolina Wilga, but the search for the 26-year-old continues as she has not been found.

The vehicle, a 1995 black-and-silver Mitsubishi van with registration 1HDS 330, was found just after 1 p.m. on Thursday in Karroun Hill, approximately 100 kilometers north of where Wilga was last seen in Beacon. According to a police spokesperson, the van is believed to have suffered mechanical issues. However, the search for Wilga remains ongoing as she was not found with the vehicle.

Wilga, a 26-year-old German backpacker, was last seen in the town of Beacon on June 29. She had been traveling through Western Australia and had expressed an interest in exploring remote and regional areas, as well as the east coast of the country. Police are searching a vast area, including regional towns like Albany, Esperance, and Margaret River, and have also alerted other police jurisdictions across the state.
