A 39-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and charged with wounding with intent to injure and possession of an offensive weapon.
According to Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, the suspect used a 7cm metal folding knife to stab the victim once in the thigh. First aid was administered at the scene before the victim was taken to Dunedin Hospital for further treatment. Police arrived within minutes and subdued the offender, who was already on active charges at the time of the incident.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Dunedin District Court on Monday. The incident has raised concerns about public safety in the area, with local authorities urging vigilance and reporting of suspicious behavior.
