Oasis Kicks Off Historic Comeback Tour in Cardiff After 16-Year Hiatus

British rock legends Oasis have officially launched their highly anticipated worldwide reunion tour in Cardiff, Wales, marking a remarkable comeback after more than a decade since their last performance together.

On July 4, 2025, the iconic 1990s Britpop band took to the stage at Principality Stadium in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 74,000 fans. Liam Gallagher, the band's charismatic frontman, opened the night with the line, "Manchester vibes in the area," setting the tone for what many are calling a historic event. The band followed with their 1995 hit Hello, instantly igniting the atmosphere with nostalgia and excitement.

The two-night concert in Cardiff marks the beginning of the 41-date Oasis Live ’25 tour, which will see the band traverse the globe, including sold-out performances in London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. The reunion of the once feuding Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel, has been a long-awaited development for fans who had nearly given up hope of seeing the band reunite after their bitter split in 2009.

"It’s gonna be life-changing," said Omar Llamas, a 39-year-old fan from Mexico who traveled to witness the event. Fans from across the world, including the Americas and Europe, gathered in Cardiff to experience the "historic moment." The city buzzed with a carnival-like atmosphere, with fans donning Oasis T-shirts and singing along to the band's greatest hits in pubs and on the streets.

The reunion tour has also been a boon for the UK economy, with fans spending on tickets, travel, and merchandise. Kira, a 25-year-old from Dundee, Scotland, splurged £130 on an official Oasis hoodie, T-shirt, and poster. "We were so chuffed," she said, adding that her friend Kayla was hopeful the brothers wouldn’t split up again before the first night of the tour.

Oasis announced the tour in August 2024, just days before the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe. The announcement was met with mixed reactions, particularly over sudden price hikes and online ticket scams, which led to warnings from Britain’s competition watchdog. Despite these challenges, the band has welcomed new members, including a keyboard player and drummer, and has been rehearsing in London ahead of the tour.

Noel Gallagher, reflecting on the band's legacy, wrote in the tour programme, "A new generation recognises how Oasis wasn’t manufactured. It was chaotic, and flawed, and not technically brilliant. We were rough and ready guys from a rehearsal room, and people recognised it."

The tour will also feature support from Richard Ashcroft, frontman of The Verve, and the 1990s indie band Cast. Ashcroft, making his debut performance with Oasis, paid tribute by performing Sonnet, a 1997 hit from his time with The Verve.

With the roof of the Principality Stadium closed for both nights, fans are anticipating an electric atmosphere as the band embarks on what could be one of the most talked-about musical events of the year.

The Oasis Live ’25 tour continues with five hometown gigs in Manchester starting on July 11, followed by international dates. For fans, the wait has finally ended, and for the band, it's a chance to reclaim their legacy and introduce their music to a new generation.
